AVSA is a unique
Design and Process, that when used together will produce the long sought
after results of removing the vermicompost from the earthworm beds,
without a lot of stress on the earthworms or you.....
AVSA is suited to
small earthworm growers, as well as the larger growers that produce
vermicompost on a regular basis and who wants a simple, easy means of
removing their product ( vermicompost) from the earthworms, babies and egg
capsules.
AVSA turns the
vermicompost into the product to be sold/used and makes the Red Wiggler
Earthworms the producers of it, instead of the earthworms being the
product being sold...
AVSA may be used
individually as a growing bed or used just to separate existing beds..
windrows.
AVSAs separating
abilities are based upon the condition of the bedding and the overall
growing environment of the earthworms. Since these are what will govern
the time it takes the babies to hatch and get into the separation chamber.
Since each type of "composting earthworm" is basically the same, this time
will vary only in the length of time it takes in your system for the egg
capsules to hatch...
By improving these
conditions by growing the earthworms in these AVSA units, the
vermicompost, as well as the production of earthworms are markedly
improved..
AVSA was designed
with the "conservation" of floor space as a major factor. It therefore
requires only a four foot square of floor space, and holds a conventional
4'x 8'x 2' outdoor bed within that space. By stacking another unit on top
of the base unit (if your ceiling allows, over 8') that can be doubled.
So, can the money you make per four foot square.
AVSA's design
allows multiple, stacked units to be attached side by side to each other
in rows, with a minimum of clearance (4') between them. With just enough
room to work them.
They easily pay for
themselves in the first year and still produce for years thereafter. Even
at a very conservative rate of fifty cents ($.50) per lb. wholesale, (the
current selling price is upwards to eight dollars ($8.00) per gallon or
more, (check it out on the other vermicompost web sites ). There is good
money in vermicomposting, especially when it is like any other soil
supplement and has to be added just as fertilizer or other amendments do
on a regular basis. UPDATE: Check out today's prices on the internet!
The units can be
made of Stainless Steel or plywood and are 4'x4x4' for the base unit.
4'x4'x7'6" for stacked. We also have the Baby AVSA for the beginner
or small family. It is 2'X2'X3' and works great for a smaller garden
usage.
The plans are for
the Stainless Steel, 4'x4'x4' unit/units, but can easily be adapted to be
constructed from other similar materials, plywood, etc...but the stainless
is preferable, due to its strength and longevity.
There is an easy
access in back to feed and water, a large front door for ease of
vermicompost removal and a special stress free area for the earthworms to
hang-out while your doing the separating. Additional units attach easily
to each side.
With the build your
own
AVSA Plans.
Additional suggestions are included for automatic watering, runoff water
recovery, ( which is loaded with nutrients and would be ideal for
hydroponics) feeding, and general usage. Are you throwing your money away
