Dry Foods for use and
survival storage. Use some, Store some.
 | Flour, I don't buy wheat to grind, we
don't use it on a daily basis. I buy regular old non enriched, non
self rising flour. I add what I need to it. |
 | Sugar, I use honey and sugar both.
Make your own maple syrup, chocolate dry mixes, etc. I buy ten pound bags
to use. Saving most of the honey for survival, sweets can make the
difference then between just surviving and special treats. |
 | Salt, save a lot of salt, it can be
used for many things. |
 | Spices, I keep extras of all our
favorites. Makes the difference when "That's all you have left to
eat". |
 | Baking soda. Several boxes, has
many uses. |
 | Corn starch, several boxes, use for
sauces, pies, stir fry, gravies, rashes, etc. many uses. |

Pre packaged dry foods:
 | Noodles and sauce, I buy these in the
package not the box, they take up less space and seem to keep the bugs out
better. I find them on sale in a variety of flavors, chicken,
cheese, etc. They cook fast, have all the ingredients except
margarine/milk (use powdered), use very little water and can have meat,
veggies added to them for one pan meals. On sale $. 70-$1.00 each. |
 | Kits, corn, biscuit, pie crust,
muffin. These are cheap, usually 2 for $1.00 and work great. |
 | Gravy mixes, I buy these to add to
meat drippings or just use alone, add to soups, stews to thicken, see
recipes. |
 | Rice, mix with veggies, cover with
meat bake. Great. Makes cereal for breakfast, puddings, add to soup,
stews. |
 | Beans, black eye, pinto, lima, split
pea. I use all of these and more, add bacon pieces, sausage or
leftover meat, onion, garlic. Can be cooked with minimum of heat and water
see recipes. Good meat replacement. |
 | Instant puddings that use water only,
good source of milk, treat. |
 | Jello-O use with mixed fruit, use
fruit juice as part of the cold water called for. Use for salads,
hot drinks. |
 | Mac and Cheese, use for dairy
replacement, add tuna, sausage. |
 | Top Ramen cheap to buy, cooks fast,
with little heat/water, add meat, veggies for meal all in one, soup.

 | Dry soup mixes, store well, add meat,
veggies. |
 | Bread crumbs, come in different
flavors, use for deep frying, filler in salmon/tuna patties, coat meat to
fry, bake. |
 | Chili, taco seasoning packages, store
well, add spice to bland foods, plus have hot pepper which is GOOD for
you. |

Oils/fats/lard, you need them contrary to
popular belief,
lard is about 40 percent saturated, 50
percent monounsaturated, and contains 10 percent polyunsaturated fatty
acids. It is also one of our richest dietary sources of vitamin D
shortening has a longer shelf
life then cooking oil.
 | Shortening/lard, use for pie crust,
biscuits, frying, gravies, etc. |
 | Oil, I use canola oil, olive oil and
vegetable oil for cooking, salads for making balsamic oils. |
 | Oils are also available in tuna,
canned meats, important sources for survival. |

Miscellaneous things
that don't fit easily anywhere else.
 | Vinegar, white, apple cider.
Store several gallons, use for cooking, preserving, cleaning and medical
see uses. |
 | Vanilla, Mint, Maple, Coconut, Root
beer, etc. flavorings. Make your own Maple syrup when you need it,
tastes better and doesn't sit around getting moldy. Mint is suppose
to discourage mice, besides being good to cook with, add to drinks, etc..
Use these for special treats, will make surviving less of a challenge to
have maple syrup on quick fry bread, once in a while. see recipe. |
 | Vitamin, mineral supplements, get
these now, put them into storage. They can help keep everyone
healthy while you watch the garden grow! |
 | Dried fruits/veggies, get these now
while
you can. |
 | Peanut butter, good source of protein,
filling, bake with, add to soups, casseroles for nutty flavor.

First Aid This should
include everything that you can normally run to the drugstore to get.
 | Peroxide use for injuries, brushing
teeth with baking soda helps with gum infections, gargle, disinfecting |
 | Baking Soda, use to brush teeth, as
deodorant, for cleaning, as fire extinguisher, for baths after exposure to
poison ivy, antacid, |
 | Bleach for disinfecting, water
treatment. |
 | Alcohol for |
 | Wound dressing, band aids, gauze,
tape, cotton balls, Q tips, |
 | Aspirin, pain relievers, fever
reducers, cough syrup, drops, anti histamines, |
 | Chap stick, Vaseline, lotions, oils |
 | Sun screen, bug repellant.

 | Shampoo |
 | Soap |
 | Toilet paper, Tissue, hand wipes,
|
 | Prescription drugs, stock up as much
as possible on heart, asthma, diabetic, etc. medications. If there
is NOT a Dr. or drugstore around for long length of time, what will you
need to store? |

 | Cleaning
 | Paper plates, disposable cups, forks,
spoons, napkins. These will be a god send when there is NOT any extra
water to wash dishes. |
 | Spray bottles for disinfectant and for
spraying oneself in extreme hot weather. Misting seedlings, young
plants. |
 | Clean sand, use to scrub out plates,
pot, pans, dishes to remove food, oil, grease. Wipe off with clean,
damp cloth after removing the food particles. Fast, easy way to
clean dishes when there is NOT water available. |
